How to Apply

This section of the website is dedicated to those organisations who are currently involved in or are establishing a partnership arrangement with the Ilhan Food Allergy Foundation.

If you wish to contact the Foundation in order to discuss a partnership arrangement, please contact us.

Who can apply

The Foundation only provides grants to agencies it has selected to partner.

  • Please do not submit unsolicited grant applications, as we will be unable to respond to these requests.
  • When the Foundation is considering a project, we will invite the organisation to submit an application - once you have been invited to apply, please use our application documents.

The Board will consider applications three times a year. Invited organisations will be given details of:

  • When to submit applications by, and
  • When the Board will be able to consider these applications.

What to include in your application

Project proposals submitted by organisations need to address the following five areas.

1. Background

Provide a brief history of your organisation and the issue you have identified that needs addressing.

Questions to consider:

  • What has already been done in this area and by whom?
  • What is the current research on the issue, if any? What is the prevailing knowledge?
  • Why does this work need to be done?
  • Why do you consider your organisation best placed to do the work?

2. The Project

Please describe in detail the project you are requesting support for and what impact you believe it will have on children or young people living with food allergies.

Questions to consider:

  • What are you proposing to do, how and why?
  • Identify the target group you are working with - does it fit with the Foundation's focus?
  • Who is going to do the work and how well qualified are they?
  • What results are you anticipating?
  • How long will the project run for?
  • What risks can you identify?
  • (Where applicable) what if any is your long-term sustainability plan for the project to continue?

3. Objectives

Please set out your short term, medium or long-term objectives for the project (in bullet form).

4. Funding

It is necessary to provide a full project budget indicating which component or proportion you need funded by the Foundation.

  • Funding will generally not be considered for more than two years.
  • Please show where you have received or anticipate receiving support in cash or kind from other parties, including your own organisation.

Questions to consider:

  • What is the overall cost of the project?
  • Are you requesting core funding for the organisation, or support for activities?
  • How will the work continue after the current funding period?
  • Have you made provision for monitoring and evaluation?
  • Have you provided for communication of the project's outcome?

5. Review or Evaluation

Please give a brief explanation on how the work will be documented, monitored and reviewed. When considering future applications, findings from previous projects will be taken into account.

Please ensure project proposals are brief, to the point, and not exceeding four (4) pages in length.
